Bear Claw blanket

My brother got married almost two months ago, and because I'm a bad sister, I still haven't finished their weeding gift. This blanket has had it's ups and downs, but I'm working on it again with renewed vigor. I started off with a Pattons yarn in a light blue with some flecks in brown and beige tones. But then the local yarn store was going out of business and they had their own yarn brand that I LOVE, so I bought a bunch of the Mooncake hand dyed yarn in a light blue, it was gorgeous, but a I started knitting, without doing a guage swatch, it Mooncake yarn wasn't big enough for this pattern. And while I could re-write the pattern, that's just not my strong suit so I went back to the Pattons yarn. The Pattons yarn knits up into the perfect size afghan for my brother and sister in law. So I am working on it steadily, with the other projects that I have going on, I'm not sure I'll finish before Christmas, but hopefully it won't take me too long to finish it. Thanks to www.knittingpatterncentral.com for the pattern.

Doggy Blanket

A couple weeks ago when I was shopping for material for my wedding dress, I found some adorable poodle fleece. I just had to get it. Joy lurves fleece. So I purchased her some of the pink poodle fleece and some black to make a tie blanket. I brought it home and spread it out to start cutting and tying and she jumped right on and refused to move, I got one side tied that night. For the next 3 days, I couldn't get her off the fleece long enough to finish. Finally, I took the fleece right out from under her, spread it on the floor and got to work. I was determined to finish! She laid on the couch and watched my every move over my shoulder as I finished the cutting and tying. And now, once again I can hardly get her off the fleece blanket.

Knitting pictures!

I took pictures of my knitting last night, so here I am to post them!
On the left is the front of L's bag. On the right is what (hopefully) the finished project will look like. Thanks to Stitch-n-Bitch Nation for the picture on the right.

The quest for...knitting of course!

I started working on initial bags for my sister and my cousin Olivia for their bridesmaid gifts for being in my wedding. I'm so proud of myself - the wedding's not until April! I finished the front side of Laura's, it's looking pretty cool with the lower case l. She's getting the bigger bag, because she always carries around lots of stuff - including snacks. She usually has several days worth of snacks in her purse :-) Laura's bag will be hot pink with purple accents. I also started the front side of O's bag. She's younger and really doesn't need to carry around as much stuff as Laura, so she's getting the smaller bag, O's purse will be in the opposite color's from Laura, purple with hot pink accents. I'll add pics of L's purse front when I can. I'm so excited.

Laura was here to visit me this weekend and picked out several other pattern's out of my book for me to make for her...alligator mittens, a pink and green purse, a cute and very 50's era sweater. Looks like I'm going to be a busy girl! Gotta get a new job so I can afford the yarn!

Couch to what?

I decided to start a Couch to 5K program this weekend. I'm scared as all get out! I need to get off my fat azz and start doing something and this opportunity presented itself through an internet forum so here I go. FI said to me the other day, that we should start doing something to get in shape since we are down to 8 mo before our wedding. And we have been trying to get in shape for more than a year, through many different paths. So far, we've only been getting fatter. But the closer I get to needing to try on wedding dresses the more motivated I am. Which reminds me, I need to call my cousin B and get her to kick my butt. Hopefully, with FI doing it and B on my case and the Pets board I'll actually make it. We're signing up to run a "Turkey Trot" on or near Thanksgiving! Agh, I'm scared!

More or Less

I'm not sure blogging is the most effective way to handle my life...I mean it's kinda like a journal, except published on the net, where other's can read it. Not really sure how I feel about that. But I'm going to post this quick anyway so I can get on with my life ;-)
